Abstract: 

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming many medical fields, including dentistry, creating exciting opportunities for innovation while also introducing new challenges. The growth of AI in healthcare has been remarkable. By 2024, nearly 50 FDA-authorised, AI-enabled dental devices had been reported, reflecting growing interest in the clinical adoption of AI in dental practice. For dental practitioners, the key question is no longer whether AI will enter dentistry, but how it can be used safely, effectively, and responsibly. This talk will explore current and emerging AI applications in dentistry, with a focus on how AI may support and enhance the dental implant workflow. It will also discuss key ethical and legal considerations for the responsible use of AI in clinical practice.
