Abstract:

Discover results from a 5-year multicenter study validating the long-term success of the Straumann® TorcFit® connection with Straumann BLX™ implants. Presented by Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Walter and Dr. med. dent. Morse Bayadse. 

 

Learning objectives:

1.           Present the Straumann® TorcFit® connection as the standardized interface for Straumann iEXCEL™ implants and its role in simplifying restorative procedures.

2.           Understand the concept of platform standardization: one drilling protocol, one insertion tool, and one prosthetic connection across implant lines.

3.           Explore the mechanical and biological principles of the Straumann® TorcFit® design, including stability and microbial sealing.

4.           Explore the significance of the 5-year multicenter clinical study—a major milestone confirming the long-term performance, and predictability of Straumann BLX™ implants with the Straumann® TorcFit® connection.

5.           Review clinical case examples highlighting treatment flexibility, and long-term outcomes.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Walter

Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Walter is a distinguished specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery with a profound academic and clinical background. Born in Mainz, Germany, he pursued his medical and dental degrees at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where he also completed his habilitation on bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw. Prof. Walter is the Medical Director at Mediplus MVZ GmbH and holds a professorship at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

With extensive expertise in implantology, Prof. Walter has led numerous successful complex dental implant procedures and has a particular focus on the integration of advanced imaging techniques in surgical planning. His clinical skills are complemented by his extensive research contributions, including over 250 scientific publications and multiple book chapters. A recognized leader in his field, Prof. Walter has received over 15 national and international awards and has delivered more than 100 scientific lectures globally. He is an active member of various professional societies and editorial boards, significantly influencing the advancement of implantology, radiology, and oral pathology.

With a Master in Science’s degree in Clinical Dental Research in 2013, and a PhD in 2019 both from the University of Granada (Spain), Armando Lopes is also author and co-author of several scientific publications

 

Dr. med. dent. Bayadse Morse

Dr. Morse Bayadse completed Dental School at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2016, following a rigorous academic path Dr. Bayadse has excelled academically and professionally. He has served since 2016 as a Research Associate in the Department of Dental Prosthetics and Materials Science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Responsibilities include student training and patient care, with a focus on digital workflow, implantology, dental prosthetics, and aesthetic dentistry. Currently, Dr. Bayadse is pursuing a Ph.D. in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, investigating the effects of cold atmospheric pressure plasma on dental material wettability.

Dr. Bayadse holds certifications in periodontology and endodontics and is proficient in Arabic, Hebrew, German, and English, with advanced skills in dental software such as CEREC, inLab, Exoplan, and ExoCAD.
