Lateral Window Sinus Lift: Hands-On Workshop – Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation Using the Lateral Approach

Course Highlight:

Lateral Window Sinus Lift: Hands-On Workshop – Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation Using the Lateral Approach

Abstract:

This practical hands-on workshop focuses on the lateral window technique for maxillary sinus floor elevation, an advanced procedure in implant dentistry for cases with insufficient posterior maxillary bone height. Participants will learn the step-by-step surgical protocol including flap design, lateral window preparation, membrane elevation, bone grafting, and implant placement considerations. Through exercises on realistic models, attendees will gain knowledge in performing the lateral window sinus lift safely and predictably, with emphasis on anatomy, and clinical decision-making.

Learning Objective:

1. Understand the indications, contraindications, and anatomical considerations for the lateral window sinus lift technique.

2. Master flap design, osteotomy preparation, and creation of the lateral window.

3. Perform safe membrane elevation and identify common intraoperative complications.

4. Apply effective bone grafting protocols and decide on simultaneous versus staged implant placement.

5. Developed protocol to minimize risks and improve predictability in lateral window sinus augmentation procedures.
