Soft Tissue Management in Modern Dentistry - Introduction and Case Sharing

Soft Tissue Management in Modern Dentistry - Introduction and Case Sharing
Abstract:
In modern dentistry, soft tissue management is increasingly critical to treatment success—especially for aesthetics and implant care. Mucogingival surgery addresses this issue, and this session offers a structured overview of its clinical value.
Dr. Zhang will guide the session, opening with a concise review of the procedure’s development history and tracing its evolution to today’s evidence-based practice. It will then cover the surgery’s clinical relevance in daily care and clear indications, helping attendees identify when it is clinically necessary.
Key content includes two core surgical techniques—Coronal Advancement Flap (CAF) and Tunnelling—with plain explanations of their principles and uses. Additionally, surgical methods for soft tissue harvesting and the application of alternative substitute materials will be discussed. Real clinical cases will illustrate how the surgery integrates with modern dentistry, particularly implant dentistry, where soft tissue health impacts long-term implant stability and aesthetics.
By the end, attendees will gain a clear, practical understanding of this specialized procedure, better recognizing its role in optimizing patient outcomes.
