Multi-disciplinary treatments often represent a challenge for the dental team. In many cases clear aligners could improve treatment planning and outcome. This lecture will discuss the interaction of clear aligners with other dental specialties such as restorative dentistry and implantology.
1. Select the proper cases for clear aligner treatments according to the clinician’s expertise
2. Discuss the role of clear aligners to simplify implant placement
3. Understand the importance of Orthodontics in the treatment planning phase and in the management of complex rehabilitations.
4. Understand the most common reasons for unsatisfactory treatment outcomes
5. Implement the strategies to avoid undesired results
Speaker: Dr. Ferruccio Torsello
Ferruccio Torsello graduated in Dentistry from the Catholic University of Rome and successfully completed a postgraduate program in orthodontics and his PhD. He attended the Department of Orthodontics at the Aarhus University in Denmark.
Dr. Torsello also completed a master’s program in Periodontics and Implant dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome.
He is author/co-author of more than 30 papers published in International peer-reviewed journals and of a book chapter. He has received several awards such as the Italian ITI Speakers Competition and the Goldman Award from Italian Society of Periodontology.
He was an ITI Scholar and has been an ITI Fellow since 2008. He served ITI as Italian Communications Officer from 2014 to 2018, and as responsible for the Italian ITI young task force from 2019 to 2021. He is founding member of the Young ITI global group.
Dr Torsello has also served on the Junior Committee of the European Association of Osseointegration, and he is currently member of the Diploma Committee of the EAO.
Currently Dr. Torsello runs a multidisciplinary dental clinic, where he practices both orthodontics and implant dentistry.
He is also involved in research projects with the Department of Periodontics and Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome and with the department of Orthodontics of the Catholic University of Roma
